As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been an incredible year for Bellwether Public Relations. From expanding our team and earning national recognition to supporting impactful client initiatives and even welcoming a new baby to the Bellwether family, this year was filled with moments of growth and inspiration.
Here are our top 10 highlights from 2024 — a year that reminds us why we love what we do and the amazing people we get to work with every day.
Bellwether Public Relations
After 20 years of making Michigan a better place through its nationally recognized public relations and advocacy work, Martin Waymire signified a new chapter of ownership under partners Josh Hovey, Angela Minicuci, and Andie Poole by rebranding as Bellwether Public Relations.
Two New Team Members
In February, Mariam Robinson joined the team as director of public relations, followed by Megan Stefl in May as communications strategist following a year with the agency as a student practitioner.
Sixth Silver Anvil
Our team received the most prestigious PR Award in the nation, the Silver Anvil, from the Public Relations Society of America for our work supporting the expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit in Michigan. This marked the agency’s sixth Silver Anvil.

Two New Team APRs
Hannah Lupi and Andrea Kerbuski achieved their Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America. The APR is a peer-reviewed certification of a person’s skill set, professionalism and ethical principles in the public relations field.

Agile Defense
Agile Defense, an innovative IT and cyber services and solutions provider and Bellwether PR client, entered into a multi-year front-of-kit partnership with Washington D.C.’s newest professional women’s soccer team.

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians
The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, a long-time Bellwether PR client, unveiled a new mini-documentary about its groundbreaking efforts to revive whitefish populations in the Great Lakes.
Hemlock Semiconductor
Hemlock Semiconductor was awarded $325M in CHIPS Act funding. As the communications partner for HSC, Bellwether PR will assist with the federal grant execution which will support its expansion, creating over 1,000 new construction and permanent jobs in Michigan.
University Research Corridor
In October, URC presidents took part in a panel discussion at the Detroit Economic Club, where they highlighted how their universities are collaborating to drive groundbreaking research and attract and support companies in four key industries: sustainability, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and life and health sciences.

Steelcase Foundation
The Steelcase Foundation launched the 10-year, groundbreaking Investment in Families Initiative, supported by Bellwether PR. This initiative seeks to identify and transform systems that often fail parents and families.

Baby Cora Joins the Team
In June, Angela Minicuci and Josh Robertson welcomed a healthy and adorable baby, Cora James, to the Bellwether PR family.

Looking back on 2024, we’re proud of all we accomplished alongside our clients, partners and team members. These milestones highlight the incredible power of collaboration, innovation and purpose-driven work. As we head into 2025, we’re energized to build on this year’s successes and continue making a difference for Michigan and beyond.
